About Cozumel Boat Tours

Why this site exists
Search for a boat trip here and you get three kinds of result: a booking platform's category page with 200 listings and no way to tell them apart, an operator's own site selling one product, and a cruise line charging double for the same two hours on the same reef.
None of them tell you the thing that actually decides your day. Which reef does this boat reach in the time it has? How much cash does the crew want at the dock, and in which currency? Is the meeting point walkable from my ship, or is it 5 km down the coast? That is what this site puts in one place.
What we cover, and what we leave out
We write about boat trips that run off the island's leeward coast and the ferry that gets you here from Playa del Carmen. We are not a booking agency and we have no relationship with any operator, so nothing here is a recommendation, an endorsement or a guarantee.
What we do is read the listings, the operator's own terms and the recent reviews, then set them side by side with the details people ask about at the dock:
- The reefs a boat can realistically reach in its stated time
- The cash fee collected on the day, which no online price includes
- The meeting point and how far it sits from each cruise pier
- Group size caps, age limits and who the operator lists as unsuitable
- What is genuinely included: gear, drinks, food, park fees
- The cancellation window, taken from the platform's own terms
Where the numbers come from
Prices, ratings and review counts are read from the live GetYourGuide and Viator listings for each boat and shown in US dollars. Fees, meeting points and restrictions come from the operators' own listing text. Marine park rules come from the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park regulations, and the seasonal figures from Quintana Roo climate records.
Prices move. Boats change their itineraries between seasons, and the harbour master can close the port at short notice in a norte. Whatever appears at checkout on the booking platform is the version that counts.
How the site pays for itself

The commission does not decide what appears on this page or in what order. We list the cheapest boat on the island next to the most expensive one, and we quote the three-star review as well as the five-star ones, because a page that only prints praise is no use to anyone choosing between two boats.
About the author
I grew up in San Miguel de Cozumel and have run boats off the island's leeward coast since 2011 — glass-bottom and clear-hull day trips out of the downtown piers, catamaran runs down to El Cielo, and the short reef hops at Villa Blanca and Paraíso that cruise passengers can fit between ship times. I put this guide together to answer what people actually ask me on the dock: which boats leave close to the cruise terminal, what the marine park fee really costs, which trips stay calm enough for kids, and what each operator does and doesn't include. Every detail here is checked against what the boats run now.
